Melton Rd shops afflicted by foul smell and flies from animal waste

July 18, 2017 10:23 PM

Tuesday morning shop owners and shoppers on Melton Road West Bridgford had once again to step carefully to avoid the flies but could not avoid the rancid smell.

Drips from an animal waste collection vehicle leave a putrid pool which water does not dissipate. The owner changes where it is parked, distributing the smell and flies including on nearby roads. Shop owners and residents are understandably upset.

Concerns reached Liberal Democrat Councillors Karrar Khan and Rod Jones over recent months and they have frequently raised this with Rushcliffe Borough Officers and asked questions. Both Councillors saw and photographed the mess this morning when shopping.

They are meeting a senior officer on Wednesday. They are looking for a serious response from the Council and will inform the many people who have contacted them once they know the official response.
