Cut out Single Use Plastics, 'Chinese' Lanterns and Helium Balloons

All Rushcliffe Councillors supported a motion calling on the Council and other organisations in Rushcliffe to introduce measures to do more to protect the environment.

It is not generally known that take away coffee cups are not easily recyclable because they contain plastic. [They can be put in the tetrapack recycling containers but most people are unlikely to take them there!] Re-useable coffee cups can be bought and save you money at most coffee shops.

'Chinese' Lanterns cause damage to wildlife and farm animals.

Helium is a rare gas and once used cannot be replaced. It is vital for use in Health services especially for MRI scanners.

Please do your bit as best you can.

Jason Billin, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson called on Simon Robinson, the Leader of Rushcliffe Council, to look into the feasibility of drinking water dispensers in our towns but he is not doing this. Even Network Rail are installing 17 water dispensers at major stations during this year.
