West Bridgford Musters Road & Wilford Lane Closures

July 23, 2018 12:39 PM

Significant 6 week Musters Road Closure.

We are told that between the 2nd August and 7th September 2018, Musters Road between Chaworth Road and Melton Road will be closed at all times in both directions.

The remainder of the junction will be running on three-way temporary traffic signals with lane closures. During off-peak times, Melton Road will be reduced to single lanes but at peak times the flaring out to 2 lanes will be opened.

[We are waiting for the bus company to decide on the routes which the 8 and 9 and L22/L23 will take.]

The reason is that the traffic signals at the junction of the A606 Melton Road and Musters Road have reached the end of their serviceable life. The work involves the complete removal of the existing traffic signal heads, poles and cabling. Unfortunately at this site the cable ducting across the roads has become blocked and will require replacement, this takes significant time to dig safely between existing underground services. Amendments will also be made to the pedestrian island on Musters Road (South) while the road closure is in place. The new traffic signals will operate to the very latest standards which include: operating at extra low voltages to reduce carbon emissions, improve safety & other technical features which should make the junction run more efficiently.

Wilford Lane will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays only between 8 am and 6 pm from 4th August 2018. This will last until 2nd September i.e. for 5 weeks. Resurfacing is planned between its junctions with Ashdown Close and Dean Road. This is roughly the stretch between the tram line and just beyond the traffic lights with Ruddington Lane and Main Rd to Wilford.
