County Conservatives Reorganisation Proposals

October 19, 2018 9:54 AM
By Rod Jones on behalf of Rushcliffe Liberal Democrats

The Conservative County Council Leaders proposal on combining Local Authorities is out for consultation.

You can convey your views before 31 October at:

The proposal is presented as saving money but is unable to specify the costs of redundancies/ disruption. There is no guarantee of local accountability. Many areas of Notts lack a Town or Parish Council. Presently many District Councils share some services where there are advantages of economies of scale or geographic considerations.

The Rushcliffe Liberal Democrat Party position, is that in the absence of clear benefits from, and because of the evident costs of changes, we consider that there should be no change and that local authorities should explore all avenues for cooperation, efficiency and best practice.
