Conservative Cons & Crem!

In February this year Rushcliffe Council welcomed a £9.9 million grant for Fairham Pastures. This would fund the road/tram route through the approved estate and would pump start the building. This was from a quango set up by the Conservatives managing the 'Housing Infrastructure Fund'.

This raised hopes that the paltry 10% affordable homes in the scheme would be increased.

So why did Rushcliffe Council's November Cabinet decide offer the developer a loan of up to £2.5 million of Council money to get a move on with building? And decide to invest £1.15 million to get the industrial units built which the Council will own.

Reason: the Conservative National Quango 'Homes England' have not provided the £9.9 million after a review of their budget! So much for the Government saying it is putting money in to help kick-start more housebuilding on large sites.

Rushcliffe Council planned to spend £100,000 on improvements in West Bridgford to the West Park Sports Pavilion and the Sir Julien Cahn Pavilion starting in June 2018. Not happening now. Councillors were told that it would depend on what was put forward next year.

Rushcliffe Plan for Crematorium near Cotgrave welcomed.

When a relative has died too many residents sometime wait too long for a slot at Wilford Hill. The building at Wilford Hill is very old. A new one central to Rushcliffe will be welcomed. A Planning Application for the site at Stragglethorpe is the next step.
