Your Liberal Democrat Councillors in Rushcliffe

Thanks to all those who voted for and supported Liberal Democrats in the local and EU elections. Welcome to all our new members who have joined the Liberal Democrats since.

We are committed to a fairer and open society with a tolerant and outward looking approach. We are committed to action to limit climate change. We want the UK to be engaged positively within the European Union. Incidentally this is the best protection of peace between countries in Europe.

In Rushcliffe we have three Councillors; Annie Major and Rod Jones for Musters Ward and 21 year old Lizzie Howitt for Bingham. You can contact us at:

We aim to work cooperatively in the Council especially with the Green party. We:

• are pushing for new housebuilding plans to include a condition that "Details be submitted of how renewable/ energy efficiency, climate change proofing has been incorporated into the proposal to include the provision of electric vehicle charging points and measures to conserve and recycle water. "
• will continue to push for a higher level of provision of housing association rented accommodation.

• will push for maximum possible tree planting

• will be represented on a working party about a future Leisure Centre in Bingham by Cllr Lizzie Howitt.

• Annie Major is leading on Planning and Lizzie Howitt and Rod Jones are involved in Scrutiny Groups.

• have met a Principal Planning Officer and identified for him 15 matters about the next phase of construction on Sharphill.

• alerted County Councillors to examine with Highways the developing plans for the top of Musters Road as it connects with Rose Way. This includes the design of the road, its gradient and camera enforcement limiting access to buses and public service vehicles.

• registered concerns and wish for scrutiny about the Conservative Cabinet's plans for public services in the heart of West Bridgford where they propose to market the Lutterell Community Hall site and move from the Police Station because the Police are moving out! The public can attend the Cabinet meeting on this subject which is on 11^th June at 7.00pm at Rushcliffe Arena. The cabinet meeting agenda can be found on the RBC website.
