Town centre mustn't become a night-time no-go area - Gale

Chelmsford's Lib Dem Cllr. Ian Gale welcomes the Government's official figures that crime overall has dropped by a further 7%. "But", he warned, "there is no room for complacency when the crime that causes the greatest distress - violence - is UP 7% from the previous year. And whilst the East of England is the safest region, in Chelmsford the trends are extremely worrying with sexual assaults up 31% and burglary up 55%!"

NO2ID Pledge Passes over 10,000 Supporters

Shepway Liberal Democrats are delighted that the NO2ID pledge to refuse to sign up to an identity card and identity database. Shepway Lib Dem members Tim Prater, Darren Briddock and Sam Matthews are amongst the thousands to have signed up to the pledge.

Hythe Town Council By-election Results

The Liberal Democrats have thanked voters for their support in the by-elections to Hythe Town Council in Hythe South and Hythe East. Although the Conservatives won both seats, the Liberal Democrats retain control of Hythe Town Council.

Community Centres safe from cuts - for how long?

Leader of the Opposition on Rochdale Council has welcomed the Council's dramatic last minute u-turn on cutting Community Centre Budgets. Cllr. Taylor attended the meeting of the Council's Cabinet as an observer and was satisfied that the Labour - Conservative led Council have climbed down after originally proposing a £100,000 cut in grants from the Learners & Young People's Service.

Lib Dem MP's - John Leech (Manchester Withington) and Tom Brake (Lib Dem Transport Spokesman) joined Rochdale MP - Paul Rowen in Rochdale to continue the fight for the Metrolink. Tom Brake is the Lib Dem Transport Spokesperson and had put the fight to extend the Metrolink at the top of his agenda.
