Local Students Welcome

Year 10 Gifted and Talented students from Parkside School in Chesterfield enjoyed a day in London on Monday 10th July, where they were shown around the Houses of Parliament by their constituency MP Paul Holmes. The students were shown both the Houses of Commons and Lords, before participating in a question and answer session with Paul.

Liberal Democrats stand up for rights of British citizens

In a keynote speech, Sir Menzies Campbell has warned that the British way of life is increasingly under threat from the state and that civil liberties are being trampled underfoot by new legislation. Speaking at the Tom Paine Festival in Lewes on the topic of 'A Liberal Britain in a Liberal World'. Sir Menzies set out his vision for a more liberal and secure Britain, including scrapping ID cards to boost police numbers, calling for greater government transparency and advocating the strengthening of international institutions.

Folkestone Town Council Backs Harcourt School Campaign

Folkestone Town Council last night backed a motion against the proposed closure of Harcourt School. The motion was proposed and seconded by Cheriton Lib Dem Councillors Tim Prater and Peter Gane, and means the Town Council will also be adding its backing to those opposing the closure in the Kent County Council consultation which closes today.
