Labour Minister in shares probe

As the Labour Party Conference takes place in Manchester a Labour Minister's shareholdings are being probed. Liam Byrne MP, Labour MP for Birmingham Hodge Hill, and Home Office Minister has been forced to insist that he followed "all the correct procedures" after reports that a company he owns shares in has supplied services to police forces. Mr Byrne owns shares in E-Government Solutions Ltd, which has provided computer services to eight police forces and has had a turnover of £1.4million in the first six months of this year alone.

Last chance to renew your Passport before price hike

The NO2ID campaign have issued a reminder that there is still time to renew your passport without getting onto the National Identity Register - the massive database at the heart of the ID card scheme - but the government is hiking the cost of 10 years' freedom to £66 from October 5th. You can expect further rises so if you have just a few years left to run on your passport, now's the time to renew.

Local Hospitals Scare

Cllr Sue Smith, Leader of Woking Borough Council, is gravely concerned at the news that more local health services, including A&E at the Royal Surrey are under threat. This is bound to cause concern for Woking residents who use the hospital. Due to under funding by the Labour Government, health facilities across the whole of Surrey are under review.
