Taking it to the Lords

An amendment to the Education and Inspections Bill, proposed by the Liberal Democrats, tackling homophobic bullying was not debated or voted upon at yesterday's report stage and third reading. The proposed new clause, seeking to impose a statutory duty on schools to implement policies to tackle homophobic bullying, was not debated because other aspects of the Bill used up all the scheduled time.

Lib Dems 'want violence register'

Lib Dem leader Sir Menzies Campbell has called for a "violent crimes" register and an end to the automatic release of prisoners halfway through sentences. He also says the right to vote must continue to be denied to people in jail for serious crimes and foreign criminals must serve sentences in their home country or be deported on release.
