Vote Blue, Get Blue - not green or indeed any other colour

Leopards cannot change their spots and Conservatives cannot 'go green'. By their actions, Chelmsford Conservatives have shown they are not really concerned about green issues, according to a letter to the Chelmsford Weekly News. MP Simon Burns has been taken to task for using his newspaper column to say the Conservatives are "going green". Chelmsford Liberal Democrat Stephen Robinson suggests that the reality is rather different.

MP cries crocodile tears over Post Office closures

Chelmsford MP Simon Burns has been accused of doing one thing and saying another over Post Office closures, by Stephen Robinson (his Lib Dem opponent in 2005). In a letter to the Essex Chronicle, Mr Robinson said that the MP was - once again - trying to persuade us that Conservatives are concerned about post office closures. "However, I think we should judge them more by their actions than their words," said Mr Robinson. He continued:

Extra Time for Police Merger Plans

The Government announcement to delay the proposed merger of police forces in the SW has been welcomed by Devon and Cornwall's Liberal Democrat MPs. While the MPs are concerned that John Reid believes mergers are still "the right way" forward, they will use the extra time to press the case for a single, stand alone force, for Devon and Cornwall.
